Classic Ladies

Maria was born in Xanthi in 1957. She grew up in Athens where she studied Film Direction at the Stavrakou School. She has been working with ceramics since 1981. In 1985 she left Athens and created her first workshop in her city. She chose to base her creative pursuit as close as possible to nature and its beneficial wisdom. In 1991 she settled in Volos where she intensified her professional activity: relief engravings, wall compositions and stonewear clay sculptures. She uses pyrochromes, bandannas and glazes in a peculiarly personal way, in order to serve the engravings and relief parts of her ceramics.
